У пациента вырезают натуральное проблемное сердце, на два года ставят искуственное, за это время натуральное – ремонтируют, потом удаляют искуственное и вставляют обратно отремонтированное натуральное. Фантастика, блин. И просто –  идея красивая (а заодно – не противоречащая известным фундаментальным законам природы), даже если практическая реализация – и не слишком существующая IRL.

It is still the future. Или как вариант – "разборка" cердца "до рамы" (колаген и прочие штуки, которые не могут вызывать отторжения) и наращивание всего "мяса" из стволовых клеток, like so:

In such case it seems to be easier to grow one on the spot rather then do it elsewhere. Implantation, I think, may be always a challenge since it is always a function of the time and time spot environmental parameters that cannot be standardized.

It is still two surgeries in the case they are describing with your logic. You need an artificial heart to get through the growth process, and you cannot really grow it _really_ in place.

What if they use something aklike current life support til the heart grows? A disfunctional heart qualifies for the absence of one given they have technology to address the "placeholding"
